MovieFest 2008 Category Defintions
There are three entry categories:
- Primary & Intermediate Schools
- Secondary Schools
- Amateur
In each category:
- a "team" is defined
as the group of members who perform all production tasks. This includes those
who perform all production task including (but not limited to) writing, filming,
editing, directing, producing, casting, lighting, sound recording, music,
and so forth.
- a "team" may undertake
the services of a non-team member, such as a teacher, professional
or otherwise non-eligible member in an advisory or mentoring capacity.
- a "team" may undertake
the services of any number of non-team members in an acting
capacity, including experienced or professional actors.
- any non-team member
is not permitted to undertake any actual production task, but can offer advice,
guidance and review for the team in a hands-off capacity.
- There is a separate section for
animated movies. These will be judged independently and will attract the same
prizes as the winners of the non-animated movies.
Primary & Intermediate Schools
- A Primary & Intermediate School
team must be comprised of students enrolled in a school from years 1 to year
8.
- Home school or other alternative
school students of equivalent age may also enter in this category.
- The Entry can be either as a representative
of a school, or as an independant entry by eligible members.
Secondary Schools
- A Secondary School team must be
comprised of secondary school students enrolled in a school from year 9 to
year 13.
- Home school or other alternative
school students of equivalent age may also enter in this category.
- The Entry can be either as a representative
of a school, or as an independant entry by eligible members.
Amateur/Hobbyist
- An Amateur team must be comprised
of amateur or non-professional filmmakers.
- For purposes of MovieFest, an
amateur is classified as "someone who is not either part time or full time
employed in the film or video industries".
