The Prelim judging/screening of ALL the movies will be in Seatoun, Wellington on the 19 and 20th August. Nat, I think you were invited, and if anyone else wants to help out - maybe save a few movies from the cull :)
So yeah, generally we need about 20 people there at all times, basically we watch each movie, check it against guidelines, length, music etc and then give it a quick rating and some comments. If there is live internet at the venue - someone does data entry and you all get to see the results coming in live. See <http://MovieFest.org.nz/votes/prejudge> and <http://MovieFest.org.nz/votes> (currently 2004 stuff). Our professional judges then narrow it down further - to 9 in each category.
These movies are the ones that make it to the regional finals. By Monday 21st we should be able to let you know if you made it through the cull.
If you don't make it to the finals - no worries - we make a DVD, and stream your movies and such like. Usually a whole bunch of good movies don't make it, and we usually give out a few prixes to the ones that didn't make it that we like:
See the 2004 nail-biting session:

Good luck to you all!!
