We would be happy to discuss a haka, and waiata. I'm keen. Let us
know (email off-list to org-team at MovieFest.org.nz) how long you think
it would take, what the content would be etc - and we can add it in
to the programme - at the start, I assume.
I'll reserve the 30 seats for you too.
The Programme in it's current form is:
4.30pm - Intro and the awarding of the Central regional prizes by Joseph
4.40pm - the awarding of the primary school prizes (by sponsors)
4.50pm - presentation by Costa Botes
5.10pm - the awarding of the secondary school prizes (by sponsors)
5.20pm - presentation by Johnny Morrison
5.40pm - the awarding of the Amateur prizes (possibly sponsors)
5.50pm - presentation by Alex Funke
6.10pm - the awarding of the Best Movie prizes by Alex Funke
6.20pm - Pack Up
7.00pm - Dinner with (everyone)?
So we do have about 10 minutes spare ;) In my experience - nothing
ever runs to time :)
I was made redundant at my full time job the other day - so i've got
a little bit more time to spend on MovieFest (that and look for
another job that I can do *and* keep volunteering for MovieFest).
Thanks again for all the support I get!! I sat down the other night
and thought about all the experiences I wouldn't have without
MovieFest - and wrote a few of them here - making it the 41st topic
in 2006 - the same as 2004 had ;)

If you all can pop by one of our sponsors -- major sponsors,
Panavision (Auckland), Imaging Technology, Amstore, Apple Computer
Division (Renaissance Ltd), and other sponsors: MagnumMac (ChCh, Akl
and Wgtn), AppleCentre Waikato, and all the other Mac dealers round
the country, Katipo cafe (Wgtn, great cheezy fries!) etc -- and give
them your thanks - they might have copies of the movies if you want
to sneak a peek.
In 2007 we're hoping to have an open category - to allow professional
entries as well, and there has been a bit of talk about running
shorter 1 minute movie competitions through-out the year - a weekend
time frame - to keep interest (and skills) going. I'm also in
discussions to sort out the logistics of a year-long feature length
competition - with open entry - for those of our entrants who have
become more "professional" since first entering [see NitroFILM -
http://www.nitro.gen.nz/ ;)]
We'll also be trying to "fix" the issues with regional screenings.
Make it more fair and equitable - but also make sure a movie shown in
one area can be consistently compared with another one in a different
area. We'll be looking at expanding screenings to cover a lot more
of our country. We appreciate having only one official screening in
Christchurch is not at all good if you live in Nelson, or Dunedin -
so if you can find a venue - and have a screen and DVD player - we
can definitely hook you up for a regional next year.
If you want to contribute ideas or help - see http://
team.MovieFest.org.nz - or the 2007 Forums:
<http://web.welmac.org.nz/forums/posting.php?mode=newtopic&f=14>
I'll have invites up shortly - so you can "spam" your friends and get
the voting online happening. I'll also be deciding on the winner of
the "post us your pictures competition" - so make sure you have
entered it!
Details at <http://web.welmac.org.nz/forums/viewtopic.php?t=478>
I'm also negotiating a nationwide T-Shirt design - we'll let you
purchase the design artwork files (ready to give to a print shop) for
minimal cost ($5?), and you can arrange to have it printed locally at
the best cost you can find. Anyone know of a nation-wide chain of
print shops that wants to negotiate a deal? We'll also have some
available at the ceremony - but the funds are a little low - so i'm
paying for them at the moment ;)
Maybe I should ask for submissions of a T-Shirt design artwork to
pix at MovieFest too?? ;) We had an old design at <http://
www.moviefest.org.nz/products> - but I reckon a black shirt with
white writing would look all good ;)
Thats all for now. My apologies for filling all your inboxes ;)
