If you aren't sending us a tape, then the only other option be offer
is your movie as a digital file - that can be played by Quicktime.

The reason we specify a DVD-R/RW for it is that the file
(uncompressed, full-frame Quicktime compatible digital video (DV)
file) will be several gigabytes for 5 minutes. A DVD-R or DVD-RW disk
can be used to put files on - like a CD-R - if your computer has a
DVD writer drive. As the file (should) be larger than 700 mb - it
won't fit on a a CD.

Depending on your editing software this might be "export as
Quicktime" or as file. We DO NOT accept DVD-movies - so please don't
provide us an iDVD or DVD that plays in a DVD-player with titling and
compressed video. There should only be a .avi or .mov or .dv file on
the disk, as well as anything else you want to send us about your
movie - the extended directors cut, photos taken of cast/crew etc.

Of course exporting your movie back to tape is often easier for some
people - but please, please do play your tape back -- double check in
a another machine if possible, that it plays ok!

Hope that helps!
